Rochfordbridge is on the main Dublin - Galway road and very close to the Offaly border.
The estate has now been broken up into small farms, but the walls remain - while the mansion was demolished in the early 1980's.
I have no connection with the Smyths or Bagnalls per se, anymore than I stumbled across your research in doing some of my own about the Gaybrook / Rochfordbridge area of Co. Westmeath - helping out a lad in Ireland who is writing a book on the area.

From there the road passes through Rochfordbridge, Tyrrellspass, Kilbeggan and Moate.
The road runs west into County Westmeath and passes Rochfordbridge, with the N52 joining the N6 at Tyrrellspass.
The N6 continues west, with the N52 leaving the route again at Kilbeggan.

 RTE News - Coroner accuses witnesses of perjury
The Co Westmeath coroner made his comments tonight at an inquest into the death of a young motorist who was killed after overtaking a car at high speed near Mullingar two years ago.
20-year-old Richard Newman from Rochfordbridge was killed on 24 August 2004 after his car lost control and ran into a tree on the road near Belvedere House in Mullingar.
Newman was one of eight young people who had gathered in four cars in the car park at Loughellen on the evening of the crash.

 South Ayrshire Council - News - Provost Welcomes Visiting Students
Nine pupils and two members of staff from Rochfordbridge School, County West Meath Eire visited Mainholm Academy as part of an exchange programme to explore the tourism potential in this area and in Eire.
Funding for this project was secured from the East West Partnership programme, which is jointly funded by Leargas and the British Council.
Students from Rochfordbridge School and Mainholm Academy will remain in close contact working together on the project by utilising computers within the schools and communicating ‘on-line’.
