The Rock Bottom Remainders donate the proceeds from their concerts to support not-for-profit organizations whose missions are to support and further various literacy efforts.
In 2007, the band formed The Remainders Foundation, a charitable services fund, at the Entertainment Industry Foundation to streamline their efforts in raising funds, seeking sponsorships and to fully operate as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
The Remainders Foundation, in association with the Entertainment Industry Foundation, produces the Rock Bottom Remainders’ concerts.

I have long wanted to see the RBR play even before they desecrated the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's stage or earned accolades from the likes of Bruce Springsteen who said, "Your band's not too bad.

Although the whole idea of authors forming a rock band and doing a tour sounds pretty stupid and self-indulgent, the results were not only good for them, but surprisingly moving and inspiring for anyone who might read this book.
I'm kicking myself repeatedly for not buying the Rock Bottom Remainders video I saw in a cheapo rack at a Fred Meyer supermarket in Coos Bay, Oregon some years ago....
