The propulsive flat snare-driven beat and cascading octave guitar lines are indeed redolent of BR, but it's almost impossible to successfully imitate Greg Graffin's monotonous intellectual benediction or the sheer inventiveness of Mr.
The chief drawback that No Use For A Name faces is that their melodies try too hard to be hooky, as in "Any Number Can Play", and they simply aren't.
Thankfully, as with most pop-punk, if you don't care for one of their songs, be patient; they're only two minutes long and generally don't feel the need to burden the listener with long outro choruses.

Opener 'A Fix' is in possession of the two coolest hard rock riffs of the year.
Part of the problem is that highly stratified, slightly Pantera-esque structures like this call for the "complaining" thrash vocal melodies and halting, spitting, rapid fire enunciations indicative of the old school, one of the more badly dating characteristics of extreme metal from '85 to '89.
But man, the soloing, the riffs are superlative, Waters finding that cozy spot he often does, between Rust and Countdown, a hard land to locate but gloriously steel-on-steel when accessed.
