The frequency of deserting females varied among years from 0 to 16%, and was significantly and positively correlated with the frequency of males available as mates at the time of desertion.
In this study we showed that sequential polyandry with brood desertion is a regularly occurring strategy in the female Rock Sparrow.

The biggest threat to the Pale Rock Sparrow in this area is the loss of habitat as the villages and fields expand up the lower slopes of Jebel Barouk.
Because some important aspects of the breeding habitat of the Pale Rock Sparrow, such as the steepness of slope and an abundance of pebbles, cannot be either controlled or constructed, conservation measures need to be directed to the most appropriate areas.

 Biography
In the chaotic world of rock 'n' roll, in which the lifespan of most bands can be measured in terms of a few years or a few months, John Kay and Steppenwolf have emerged as one of rock's most enduring and respected bands, delivering hard-hitting, personally-charged music for more than three decades.
There, he immersed himself in the rock, R&B, country and gospel music that emanated from late-night U.S. clear-channel AM stations, while learning English from the speed-rapping DJs who dominated the rock 'n' roll airwaves.
By 1967, The Sparrow had run its course and Kay was back in Los Angeles, where ABC-Dunhill Records staff producer Gabriel Mekler encouraged him to form a new group to record for his label.

Mt Diablo is also known for its spectacular views, odd rock formations, fascinating geology, over seven hundred plant species (including several endemics), about seventy butterfly species, and interesting wildlife (including Bobcats and Coyotes).
The most sought after bird in the park by visiting birders is probably the Black-chinned Sparrow.
It is also possible to access this area from Burma Road (at North Gate Road 3 miles up from the kiosk, this is rather short but steep and has virtually no shade) or from the Barbeque Terrace-Wildcat Group Camp area of South Gate Road (a longer hike and furthest from the best birding sections).

Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll - The Elms
It's unfortunate so many people failed to recognize the song as a playful nod to the catchy Beatlesque rock of the late '60s and early '70s, thereby missing out on an excellent retro rock album from a band that makes a fine successor to the legacy left by PFR.
You'll hear it instantly with the rocking opening track and first single, "Speaking in Tongues." The beginning guitar chords are remarkably similar to the Beatlesque bands of the '60s and '70s, such as Badfinger, The Raspberries, and Cheap Trick, as well as legendary acts The Who and The Rolling Stones.
I said The Elms now sound like Beatlesque bands because their sound on Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll is a little less directly influenced by The Beatles – it sounds more like they're mimicking a specific style and snapshot in rock history, as opposed to a specific band or two.
