Rock and Roll (Led Zeppelin song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Rock and Roll" is a song by British rock band Led Zeppelin, which was first released as the second track of their untitled fourth album in 1971.
As the title suggests, the song is based on one of the most popular structures in rock and roll, the 12 bar blues progression (in A).
The bridge of the song is highlighted by a blistering guitar solo by Page, and builds to a fever pitch culminating in a final drum break by Bonham at the song's conclusion.

Led Zeppelin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Led Zeppelin was a English rock band that became one of the most successful and influential artists in popular music history.
Led Zeppelin also featured delicate acoustic guitar on "Black Mountain Side", and a combination of acoustic and electric approaches on the reworked folk song "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You." The immediate success of the first album kick-started the band's career, especially in the United States, where they would frequently tour.
Led Zeppelin again showed their impressive range with songs like the lush and complex "Ten Years Gone", the acoustic "Black Country Woman", the driving "Trampled Under Foot" and the thundering, Indian-Arabic-tinged "Kashmir".

Led Zeppelin IV was the band's most musically diverse effort to date, featuring everything from the crunching rock of "Black Dog" to the folk of "The Battle of Evermore," as well as "Stairway to Heaven," which found the bridge between the two genres.
Led Zeppelin immediately cancelled the tour and offered no word whether or not it would be rescheduled, causing widespread speculation about the band's future.

The poll asked "Whether you like them or not...is Led Zeppelin the most influential hard rock band?" The results did not really surprise me. Seventy-five percent voted yes and the other twenty-five percent voted no. That's an overwhelming majority that thinks that Led Zeppelin was the most influential hard rock band.

Riff rock had been what Jimmy Page's former band, the Yardbirds, were all about, and on Led Zeppelin's second album, released, like its predecessor, in 1969, the inventive guitarist demonstrated that he'd indeed learned his lessons well.
Led Zeppelin II is an album of Jimmy Page riffs so huge, and John Paul Jones/John Bonham rhythms so deep, that the heavy metal genre this classic helped create has tried for decades to catch up, mostly without success.

The death of rock 'n' roll? By Alex Abramovich
Traditionally, confluences of rock and film stock tended to fall into one of two categories: In twentysomething films like High Fidelity, the heroes held rock to be so real, and so very vital, that life itself seemed pale in comparison.
But School of Rock was written with a new breed of adults in mind—and their driving fear isn't that the youth of tomorrow will fall prey to what Frank Sinatra once described as "the martial marching music of every side-burned delinquent." It's that the kids might never get their rocks off in the first place.
When Black first meets his school kids, who are young enough to be Dylan's grandkids, Led Zeppelin takes a backseat to Latin, and rock 'n' roll is as sexy and redemptive, in their eyes, as a square dance at a retirement home.

Doors slam on Caddy's ad plans
The new Cadillac “Break Through” ad campaign featuring the Led Zeppelin song “Rock and Roll” would be swinging to a different beat if the brand's original plans had worked out.
WAW has learned Cadillac initially approached another classic rock band, The Doors, about using their 1967 hit “Break On Through.” A deal seemed imminent, until at least one surviving band member rejected it.
And despite “Rock and Roll” being its second choice, Cadillac says it's happy with the song.

Led Zeppelin's epochal fourth album finds both the band's blues-rock thunder and their gentler, more lyrical side filed down to a razor-sharp point.
"Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll" aren't just perennial air-guitar anthems; they're the ultimate distillation of the blues-inflected, hard-rock fury the band had already been perfecting for the past three years.
