The median income for a household in the county was $23,475, and the median income for a family was $30,278.

We believe that Margaret Vanderpool was present in Pulaski County, Kentucky (adjoining Rockcastle County), in March 1813 when she signified her consent to the marriage of a female we think was her daughter, Rhoda.
The Washington COunty court minutes also show that Teter Nave was made the administrator of Abraham's estate during the same August 1779 term that Nave was serving as Rebecca's administrator under the provisions of her will, so the two Vanderpools must have died at about the same time.
Surry County originally included much of the western part of North Carolina – from Guilford County in the central part of the state to the Blue Ridge Mountains and from Virginia on the north to Rowan County (another large county) – until the latter half of the 18th century.

The Daniel and Alice Brown deed was written so that a new place of worship could be built, which it seems was done in 1896 and is the church building now in use.
The various old deeds vested property rights in the church congregation itself, but a change in Kentucky law prohibited such practice, so the 1911 deed from Daniel and Alice Brown was making the property to trustees, John A. Proctor, J.W. Carig, and S.L. Cummins and their successors.
Its cemetery, one of the largest in the county, records the last resting place of many who figured prominently in the older days of the Christian Denomination in Kentucky.
