This trolley park was developed by The Ottawa Electric Railway which had completed the double tracking of the tram line only a few weeks earlier.
In the winter, the park served as recreation for ski enthusiasts because of the hills that inclined up from The Ottawa River.
Nothing further has surfaced on this park but the region survives today as a day-use picnic park.

The decorations in the park were designed to represent the Canadian federation, with floral emblems from each province and territory and two stylized fountains to suggest the five Great Lakes and the vast forests of Canada.
This picturesque park overlooking the dramatic falls and rapids on the Rideau River was one of the last creations of the Federal District Commission (1927-1958) before it was transformed into the NCC in 1959.
Sold to the City of Ottawa in 1903, the park was maintained for most of the 20th century by the NCC and its predecessors.

In 1994, I attended the Association of Municipalities of Ontario annual conference and heard the then leader of the third party, Mike Harris, stun delegates with his announcement that his party would reduce the number of municipalities in Ontario by one third to eliminate waste and duplication.
This proposal, by motion, was accepted at each of the 11 municipal councils in Ottawa-Carleton: by Cumberland, by Gloucester, by Goulbourn, by Kanata, by Nepean, by Osgoode, by Ottawa, by Rideau, by Rockcliffe Park, by Vanier, by West Carleton and by regional council, and was endorsed by the Minister of Municipal Affairs.
I guess it's fair to say that the total tax burden in Ontario, including the taxes levied by all provinces, is among the highest in the Dominion of Canada, and it has increased faster than the national average; in fact, between 1981 and 1993 it increased from 31.8% of GDP to 37%.

The entire former Village of Rockcliffe Park was designated as a Heritage Conservation District under the Ontario Heritage Act in 1997.
Initially, members of the Heritage Sub-committee of the Rockcliffe Park Residents’ Association were concerned about the loss of this building because of its age and status as one of the few remaining wood frame houses in the Village.
The Rockcliffe Park Residents’ Association was informed of the project and the Heritage Sub-committee of the Association commented on the proposal.

This time it was seen on the trail south of the Pine Grove Parking Lot, past the turn to the OFNC Feeder and about 500 yard further south where there are a number of Red Pines down.
There was a Horned Grebe at Dick Bell Park on the 1st and at Dick Bell Park on the 3rd there were 2 White-winged Scoter and 2 Common Loon along with 3 Red-breasted Mergansers.
From southern Ontario, there are many, many reports of Franklin's Gulls being found all over, not only southern Ontario but all of the northeastern United States.

It is on the highest accessible point in Ontario, an old armed forces base.
You might be familiar with Hwy 35 through Minden (stop at Rockcliffe Hotel, Brown Owl, or Kawartha Dairy for a cone) up to Dorset, to Hwy 60 which travels east through Algonquin Park or west to Huntsville.
In fact, it is so good, many cyclists use it for traning because of all the hill climbs and high speed descents (I know, have done it several times on a racing style bicycle and attained almost 80 km/h on the descent).

A twenty-member delegation from The Network for Patriotism and Progress (NPP Montreal-Canada) on Saturday April 27 paid a courtesy call on the new Ghana High Commissioner in Canada, His Excellency S.A. Odoi Sykes at his official residence at 456 Bona Vista, Rockcliffe Park, Ottawa, Ontario.
In a brief speech, Network Chairman, Hans Peter Duah said the visit was to welcome the new High Commissioner to Canada and to offer the Network’s cooperation to the High Commissioner in his job to attract and develop political and economic partnerships between Canada and Ghana.
Membership is open to all Ghanaian-Canadians and friends of Ghana who share the political and economic ideology of the Network for Patriotism and Progress.
