Disneyland -- Rocket Rods (Disney Lies)
The Rocket Rods were a grand experiment that, largely for budgetary and political reasons, was doomed from the start.
The Rocket Rods were conceived as a high-speed attraction that would both spruce up Tomorrowland and make use of show areas left empty by the extinction of Circlevision, the People Mover, and the Rocket Jets, and by the city's abandonment of an extension to the I5 freeway.
After months of testing, it was found that the Rocket Rods could be operated safely on the unmodified track with an acceleration of five feet per second and a top speed of eight miles per hour.

Because the Rocket Rod is slightly heavier than the bat you use in the game it will develop quick wrists and bat speed, it's like putting a swing weight or doughnut on your bat but the Rocket Rod already has the weight built in.
The new 2002 Rocket Rods unique design allows you to change the swing weight of the bat simply by inserting one of the three weights available into the handle or barrel of the bat giving you 12 different handle to barrel weight ratio combinations, no other bat offers that, I told you it is versatile.
The patented design of the ROCKET ROD allows you to adjust the swing weight of the bat you are using, simply by inserting one of the three threaded weights available into the handle or barrel of the bat, allowing for 12 different handle to barrel weight ratio combinations.

Rockets must be used when there is no other substance (land, water, or air) or force (gravity, magnetism, light) that a vehicle may employ for propulsion, such as in space.

After the closure of Rocket Rods, the theater sat empty except for a short period after September 11 in 2001, when the theater opened and "America the Beautiful" was shown.
Retro-styled rockets that seated up to 5 people followed the track, periodically accelerating rapidly until they rose onto their back ends, then decelerating until the front end dropped back to the track, repeatedly for the rest of the ride.

Defense Tech: Weak Standard for Space Rods
The rods’ speed would be so high that they would vaporize on impact, before the rods could penetrate the surface.
A better solution, Pike argues, is to pursue the original concept: Place the rods atop intercontinental ballistic missiles, which would slow down enough during the downward part of their trajectory to avoid vaporizing on impact.
The real argument against the Rods from God is: how do you target the thing and guide it in when the plasma sheath from plowing through the atmosphere at that speed will eliminate the use of GPS and you'd need a REALLY stable IMU to carry on from the last update.

This is a design for a portable launch pad for rockets up to Level 1 HPR which can handle launch rods up to 1/2" diameter and a tower for rockets up to 29 mm in diameter.
As shown here, the solution was to create rods which fit into a variety of sockets, which are themselves rigidly aligned in a base and arranged in a pattern to accommodate rockets of standard sizes.
These rods are adjustable in that twisting them slightly varies the diameter of the circle that they define, thus accommodating slight variations in rocket diameter without the need for a halo.
