Although Rocket Science could easily be lumped in with fellow Australian garage-rockers like the Vines and Jet, a spin of the quartet's newest full-length album reveals a sharper style and a wryer songwriting sense than their contemporaries could ever deliver.
Hailed in their homeland as Australia's premier live band and praised by Supergrass' Gaz Coombes as "simply the best band I've heard in ages," Rocket Science has produced a disc to be reckoned with.
Rocket Science is certainly at the rawer end of the rock 'n' roll spectrum, but the band doesn't wear its influences on its sleeve as blatantly as Jet does when it comes to AC/DC.

Rocket Science are a strong combination of 60's garage and spaceage music with the added panache of the John Spencer Blues Explosion.
Although the main focus of the band is on the crazy organ and freaked out therimen of lead singer Roman Tucker, Rocket Science are very tight outfit with the brilliant drumming of Kit Warhurst and the understated guitar of Paul Mabury integral to the band's unique sound.
Rocket Science haven't completely left their garage punk roots behind (in fact some songs like crazy are more abrasive than anything on their debut) but Contact High proves they're definitely not afraid to blast off and explore new areas.

Rocket Science are a four-piece band (ed by work-horse bassist/vocalist Rob Higgins)that specializes in doing it all for the fans, wheeling out a kick-ass set of metallic smart-rock and had prize give-aways for the all-ages audience.
The band has gotten a lot tighter (as has the material) and the songs are a little more concrete than they were during the band's earlier shows.
The band seem indie-rock at heart, but their sound is more over the top than your average band.

S: We're obviously a band who respect the history of music, and that had something to do with our decision to go there.

A relatively new Australian band, Rocket Science consists of keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and a singer who was surprisingly energetic for someone who had been in a coma recently.
Finishing their half and hour set with their popular Triple J regular ‘sex call’, Rocket Science were a fun band to see, even if you weren’t familiar with their music and they will most likely be a solid member of the Australian music scene.

And an initial listening might make it easy to write Rocket Science off as just another emoish pop-punk group trying to be the next Blink 182, especially after hearing hook-laden ditties such as Child's Play.

The band weren't the least bit shy either about making full use of the Metro's considerably greater stage room compared with the cramped, er cosy, Hoey.

Nurse will mark the band’s second effort with Chicago multi-Jim O’Rourke as a full-time member (the third overall with his involvement), who was else integral to wilco’s yankee hotel foxtrot, as well as their new album A Ghost is Born, due out on the 7th June.
With bands calling Vagrant Records home, it probably made sense to keep ‘em together, all in the family style-ee.

I'm really glad that he digs our music, because Mark and I grew up listening to his and to have mutual respect for/from a peer such as Simon is a good deal of what doing music is about.
I think the main difference is, as far as writing is concerned, is we are more at home with each other's roles so we can choose to either go with those roles or ignore them and mix it up a little bit.
Before we really got going as a band unit there was a bit of scrabbling around for sounds, note choices, and dynamics, but nowadays we know each other's styles so well we can swim with or against the tide.

I could never tell which band was up-to-date as none of their respective garageband.com sites said that they had broken up.
Rejects and Rocket Science and AnotherTragicCase both claimed to be formed in the fall of 2003, and had some of the same members, so I immediately assumed that these bands were coexisting or that one of the names were temporary and it was quickly abandoned for another name.
Thankfully I found a site called Mandela Coin, which has band reviews that cleared it all up for me. I found out the VALIDATORS and AnotherTragicCase both played a gig in April of this year, which leads me to the conclusion that they both are the currently active AIS bands.

It has some elements of Rocket Science of the past - bombastic fuzz bass, stabbing drums, spiky guitar, a featured organ part and paranoid vocals, but moved into more melodic territory.
I wanted to convey a garage-punk philosophy, and in the process, communicate to the listener what Rocket Science is all about.
KW: Possibly the first Rocket Science song born from an acoustic guitar, We The People was quite a deal slower and "campfire caper" at its inception.
