November 2006 an der GSI auf den Namen Roentgenium mit dem chemischen Symbol Rg getauft.
Roentgenium ist zurzeit das schwerste offiziell anerkannte chemische Element.
Zur Entdeckung von Roentgenium wurden mit ihm Nickel-Ionen auf hohe Geschwindigkeiten gebracht und auf eine Bismutfolie in einem Targetrad (s.u.) geschossen.
