Roger Godsiff, the Labour MP for Birmingham Sparkbrook and Smallheath called for an end to immigration, claiming Britain does not need any more foreign workers.
Mr Godsiff believes that the UK has enough immigrants already, and fears the arrival of more will be bad for race relations.
Mr Godsiff stated on Radio 4's Westminster Hour "I have to view it as a member of Parliament representing a constituency which has already taken in large numbers of first and second generation immigrants, who have assimilated and contributed a great deal to the development of the country - but enough is enough."

Roger Godsiff, born 1946, son of a chargehand, was educated at Catford Comprehensive Schoo and for 22 years was a union official with APEX, and, following a merger, with the GMBU.
Godsiff is the classic example of a white incumbent Labour MP in a predominantly Asian constituency, whose poistion is maintained by a combination of diligent ward-heeling and self-defeating divisions within the ethnic population.
His profile at Westminster is so low that, when appearing incidentally in a press photograph with Kenneth Clarke, outside of the Commons, he was identified as one of Clarke's supporters in the Tory leadership contest.

Roger Godsiff, the MP for Birmingham Sparkbrook and Small Heath, told me that there was a ‘culture of institutional chaos’ within the system.
Again, as the Labour MP Roger Godsiff put it to me, ‘unrestricted, unrecorded migrant growth’ is placing ‘intolerable pressure on services such as housing, social care and education’.
Many employers cynically welcome immigration, of course, because it helps to drive down wages, though it is odd that so many left-wingers should give their ideological backing to this kind of brute labour-market capitalism.

Representing the main parties on the Sparkbrook and Small Heath battleground were Roger Godsiff of the Labour Party and Salma Yaqoob of Respect — The Unity Coalition.
When asked by a student about her reasons for becoming involved in political life and the elections, Salma responded “I was actually inspired by Roger Godsiff because this man did nothing for this community so I had to take action” to which she received rapturous applause.
Salma’s positive speeches and proposals for the community were received fantastically well from both students and staff and after the meeting, she was taken around the school by students while the Sixth Formers introduced her to the Common Room.

The members informed the speaker that the moves were aimed at what they called to "sabotage" the forthcoming conference of leaders of Jammu and Kashmir from both the sides of line of control being held here on May 29.

Muslim candidate challenges UK election result - Irna
A Muslim candidate standing for the anti-war Respect Coalition has lodged an official complaint, questioning the victory by Labor MP Roger Godsiff in Birmingham Sparkbrook and Small Heath constituency at the general election last month.
Salma Yaqoob, who was seeking to become the first hijab-wearing Muslim MP to enter the House of Commons, filed at petition to the High Court, saying there had been enough complaints about postal votes to warrant an investigation into the result.
At the election, she narrowly failed to win the seat after reducing Godsiff's 16,246 majority to just 3,289, when gaining a staggering 27.5 percent swing in Britain's most populous Muslim constituency.

Yaqoob, who was born in the northern English city of Bradford but lives in Birmingham, is contesting the traditionally safe seat held by Labour MP, Roger Godsiff, with a 16,000 vote majority.
Galloway described Godsiff as having "the worst-ever" record of participating in parliamentary debates over the past century and done nothing to represent the people's interests.
People like Godsiff regard Muslim families, like Yaqoob's of Pakistan descent, as "foreigners, as 'Pakis', as 'immigrants from whom we'll soak votes if we're lucky and when it suits us we'll kick them in teeth before we stab them in the back'," he said.
