This is the third lawsuit brought to contest the ownership of the minerals and the second instituted by the Dearings.
At trial of that action the district court of Roger Mills County granted cross-motions for summary judgment and quieted title to the surface in the railroads and quieted title to the minerals in the state.
There is no argument or objection that the District Court of Roger Mills County herein was not a court of competent jurisdiction to hear either action.

Five sites in Roger Mills County represent the only known remains of an enigmatic group of people who lived in western Oklahoma from around A.D. 1250 to perhaps as late as A.D. This group of sites is known to archeologists as the Zimms complex after the best-known of the sites, the Zimms site.
When archeologists and volunteers from the Oklahoma Anthropological Society excavated at the Zimms site, they uncovered the remains of a structure, probably a house, which differed in many ways from the houses of other Oklahoma villagers of the same period.
With further research and educated guesses, we hope to eventually better understand the Roger Mills county people of the Zimms complex.

 Calibration of the Radiocarbon Dates
The archaeological deposit is buried in a dark brown (melanized) Late Holocene valley fill remnant on an unnamed left-bank tributary of Croton Creek, in the upper Washita River basin.
The site was partially excavated in a contract between the U.S. Forest Service and the Anadarko Basin Museum of Natural History in Elk City, Oklahoma by James Briscoe and Roger Burkhalter in 1986 (Briscoe and Burkhalter 1986, Briscoe 1987a).
A mix of corner-notched dart (7) and arrow (1) points and three cord-marked sherds were recovered from the 70 cm deep Late Holocene paleosol, and five woody charcoal samples spanning the depth of this soil were radiocarbon dated (Briscoe 1987a,  1987b).

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 13) -- Two state lawmakers announced Tuesday a grant will be used to increase the capacity of a municipal water system in Roger Mills County to meet the needs of its users.
Cheyenne gets its water from a reservoir southwest of town, and transports it approximately three miles through an 8-inch-diameter pipe line to the treatment facility.
Projects that qualify for the funds include water or sewer line construction or repair; storm sewer projects; water treatment, acquisition, distribution or recovery; and other water and wastewater improvements.
