Roger Stern (born September 17, 1950) is an American comic book author and novelist.
Stern broke into the industry in 1975 as part of the Marvel Comics "third wave" of creators, which included artists Byrne and Frank Miller, and writers Jo Duffy, Mark Gruenwald and Ralph Macchio.
Stern worked briefly as an editor (notably on The Uncanny X-Men), but is better known for a brief run with John Byrne on Captain America and for his lengthy stints on The Amazing Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and The Avengers.

Effectively banished from Marvel, he started freelancing for DC Comics, where he was one of the core Superman writers for almost a decade, during which he helped to devise the Death of Superman storyline which revived interest in the character in the mid-1990s.
Stern has written a number of original graphic novels, including Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment, Superman for Earth, The Incredible Hulk vs. Superman, and Superman: A Nation Divided.

While editor is certainly an important job, and I have no doubt Roger made many valuable contributions to the books he edited, I am primarily interested in his writing.
There are so many Roger Stern interviews on the net that a lot of quotes could be included.
Roger always did write the best post-Crisis Lex Luthor (with all due respect to Marv Wolfman and John Byrne).

Stern is a long-time DC writer who also did the novelization of the controversial death of Superman arc back in the early 90s, The Death and Life of Superman, a book I actually read on my own out of sheer curiosity.
Novelizing a comic book might be compared to doing an IMAX movie adaptation of a reality show, but Stern actually manages to wring a decent pulp novel out of his source material.
