William Pierce Rogers (June 23, 1913 – January 2, 2001) was an American politician, who served as a Cabinet officer in the administrations of two U.S. Presidents in the third quarter of the 20th century.
Rogers was born June 23, 1913, in Norfolk, New York.
Rogers died of congestive heart disease in January 2, 2001, in Bethesda, Maryland, and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

The key event in Rogers' stage career was his securing a one-week engagement in New York, in the fall of 1915, for showman Florenz Ziegfeld's "Midnight Frolic." This variety revue, beginning at midnight in the top-floor night club of Ziegfeld's New Amsterdam Theatre, drew many influential — and regular — customers.
Through Rogers' continuing series of columns between 1922 and 1935, as well as in his personal appearances and radio broadcasts, he won the loving admiration of the American people, poking jibes in witty ways at the issues of the day and prominent people — often politicians.
Rogers' birthplace is open to the public and is located two miles east of Oologah, Oklahoma, on land overlooking his original ranch (now covered by the reservoir Lake Oologah).

William P. Rogers, a suave and well-connected Republican lawyer who was secretary of state under President Richard M. Nixon and attorney general in the Eisenhower administration, died on Tuesday (January 2, 2001) in Bethesda, Maryland.
Rogers, while a distinguished lawyer, was not steeped in foreign policy, even though he had served on two United Nations panels, one that explored prison conditions around the world in 1955 and another that studied problems in Africa in 1967.
Rogers is survived by his wife of 64 years, Adele, whom he met in law school; a daughter, Dale Marshall; three sons, Anthony of Boston, Jeffrey of Portland, Ore., and Douglas of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Rogers counseled Nixon privately and professionally, notably in 1952 when as Senator and vice presidential running mate of Dwight D. Eisenhower Nixon was revealed to have built a large personal expense fund from private donations.
Rogers was active in a number of Washington area clubs and civic organizations throughout his long residence in the Washington/Maryland area, and was a well known figure in the capitol when he was tapped by Nixon to serve as his Secretary of State in 1969.
William Rogers returned to private practice and went back to public service one last time in 1986 when he was called upon by President Ronald Reagan to head the investigation into the Challenger Space Shuttle Disaster which claimed the lives of seven astronauts.
