	Roland TR-909 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The TR-909 was a partially analog, partially sample-based drum machine built by Roland Corporation in 1984.
		Being the brainchild of Tadao Kikumoto, the engineer behind the TB-303, it features a 16-step music sequencer and a drum kit that, at that time, aimed for as much realism as was possible.

		I like to create warped and original sounds that frame themselves around the sound of the 909, but that kick always brings me back to the root of the song.

		The 909 had that nice old "rubbery" digital sound (Phil Collins' Take Me Home intro as an example...) I'm not sure what sort of bit resolution the thing had, but I'm fairly sure the sound base wasn't expandable.
		In testing keyboards over the last few weeks the Roland U-20 keyboard had a nice touch to it and the vanilla sine-wave sound had some depth/thickness to it.
