 Roll of Honour
It has been the Memorial’s practice to add names to the Roll of Honour only when the conflict in which the deaths occurred is officially declared to be no longer warlike by the Department of Defence.
Because of this, it is not yet possible to finalise a Roll of Honour for Afghanistan and the Second Gulf War, as these conflicts are still considered to be warlike and it is possible that members of the Australian Defence Force may continue to be involved for some time.
When a conflict is no longer considered warlike, the Memorial compiles and installs a Roll of Honour after consultation with the Department of Defence and upon gaining approval from the families of the deceased.
