By 1871 Rolleston had a population of 30 persons, several residences, an unofficial Post Office and a provisional school with nine pupils enrolled, and Frank Nicholson as the first principal.
Rolleston is a small village on the Comet Rover in Bauhinia Shire in Queensland.
As Rolleston was largely settled by people of British origin, the church of England was soon established, and in 1886 Rolleston became part of Springsure Parish.

The Rolleston Mine is located is the south-west of the Bowen Basin, 16 kilometres west of the town of Rolleston and about 140km south of Emerald.
The capital cost of the mine is estimated to be $175 million for the initial 6 mtpa development with a further $75 million when the second dragline and associated mining equipment are introduced.

The State Government says regional Queensland will receive 60 per cent of the record $10 billion earmarked for infrastructure in the state Budget.
More than $26 million will be spent on roads in the South Burnett and Brisbane Valley, including $2 million to improve the D'Aguilar Highway and funds to regrade the Bunya Highway, while more than $8 million will be spent completing an upgrade of the Carnarvon Highway between St George in south-west Queensland and Rolleston.
There is also major spending on health, with more than $8 million to continue the redevelopment of the Miles Hospital and $920,000 to finish the construction of Warwick's aged care facility.
