Rolls went to the New York Motor Show to exhibit Rolls-Royce cars in 1906 and also attended an exhibition organised by the Aero Club of America and was introduced to the Wright Brothers.
Royce did not like the Spirit of Ecstasy, which he judged her to be just a fashionable bauble and complained that she spoiled the clear line of the car's bow.
Royce was prompted to think about a lower variation of the Spirit of Ecstasy, by which alteration a driver might benefit from clear vision even with the windscreen lower and his seating position reduced in turn.

 Rolls-Royce Nene at AllExperts
It was during the design of the Nene that Rolls decided to give their engines numbers as well as names, with the Welland and Derwent keeping their original Rover models, B/23 and B/26.
This should have suggested that it would be widely used in various designs, but the Gloster Meteor proved so successful that the Air Ministry felt there was no pressing need to improve upon it.
The Nene was used to power the first civil jet aircraft, a modified Vickers Viking, which flew first on 6 April 1948.

 Rolls-Royce Conway at AllExperts
An Avro Vulcan was used to continue the development of the engine and also another new Rolls Royce engine, the Spey.
The contemporaneous V-bombers, the Valiant and Vulcan used the Rolls-Royce Avon and Bristol-Siddeley Olympus turbojet engines, and the infamous defence reviews under Duncan Sandys curtailed development of manned military aircraft in favour of ground-launched guided missiles.
The engine also found few civilian applications, as most airlines (especially US airlines) preferred to use US-built engines, and the Americans later developed a counter to the Conway, the Pratt & Whitney JT3D, which was less noisy and had a lower fuel consumption.

Although the standard Sabre and the Avon Sabre look superficially similar, the changes required to fit the Avon engine meant that only 40% of the original fuselage structure remained.
The former will be slightly easier to use as the cockpit tub and wheel-well are not moulded integrally with the intake as on the Academy kit.

The 30mm Aden cannon was chosen for the new armament, and the Rolls-Royce Avon RA-7 engine became the new powerplant, with an increase from the 6,100 lbs of thrust of the G.E. J-47 to 7,500 lbs of thrust with the Avon.
The change in powerplant required a redesign of the Sabre's fuselage to cater to the increased airflow requirement of the Avon, and to the fact that the engine was 500 lbs lighter than the J-47, requiring that it be re-positioned further aft.
Without photos of the cockpit of the Avon Sabre, I am not sure I actually got this right, but I also know there is a small chance anyone here in North America will know enough about the Australian version to catch this when looking at the model.

Acoustical Test Cell to reduce noise levels of Rolls-Royce Avon and GE LM2500 turbines
With the noise levels associated with an airport industrial area, identifying noise from a specific source - say, a testing facility for aero-derivative gas turbines - could be considered a formidable task.
The TCT facility would be used for testing a wide variety of turbines including Rolls-Royce Avon and General Electric models up to their LM2500, capable of producing sound levels ranging from 113.7 dBA to 115.3 dBA.
After initial analysis, ATCO identified the primary external noise contributors as the walls of the test cell, the exhaust/ventilation openings, the air intake system and the combustion exhaust.
