Catholic Bioethics Center, Boston, MA; the Seminary Board, Kenrick-Glennon, of the Archdiocese of St. Louis; the Seminary Committee and Board of Trustees of Catholic University of America; and as vice president of the Illinois Catholic Health Association.
Founded in 1853, the Archdiocese of Newark is one of the oldest, and the smallest geographically, of Roman Catholic diocese in the United States.

Roman Catholic dioceses in the state's two largest cities released information Thursday about the number of priests accused of sexual abuse, a day before a national audit of every diocese in the country is to be made public.
The Roman Catholic diocese of San Diego was hit with 11 more lawsuits alleging children were sexually abused by 13 priests and a lay worker at a handful of church institutions from the 1940s to 1980.
Roman Catholic Church officials in Vermont are negotiating a possible settlement in a lawsuit filed by a former North Adams, Mass., city councilor and Berkshire County commissioner who alleges he was abused as a teenager by a priest in the late 1980s.

The diocese spent $425,761 on counseling for victims and family members, and $1.5 million in salaries and expenses for 13 priests accused of misconduct.
The Albany, N.Y., Catholic diocese reported Wednesday that it has paid $2.3 million to sexual abuse victims during the past 25 years, including a payment of nearly $1 million to a single victim in 1997.

In the early days, when Rushville was a parish in the Chicago diocese, services were held at the home of Patrick Fox, and the priest made regular visits here to minister to the little congregation.
When the diocese of Peoria was erected in 1870, Rushville parish was included in the territory taken from the Chicago diocese.
