 | | Whereas, Bishop Gorman Roman Catholic High School opened its doors on September 7, 1954 and was officially dedicated October 24, 1954, by the then, Diocese of Reno; and |
 | | the School is named in honor of Thomas K. Gorman, the first bishop of the Nevada Diocese housed in Reno, and the land was donated by Romy Hammes, father-in-law of former Nevada Supreme Court Justice John Mowbray whose children are graduates of Bishop Gorman High School; and |
 | | Whereas, Christian, Catholic principles and academic excellence are the trademarks of Bishop Gorman High School given its superior faculty, and dedicated staff; and |
