Before being critical of the Roman Catholic Church it is important to point out that she is the mother of all Christian churches.
On the contrary the misdeeds of the Catholic Church are a matter of historical record and Christianity is quite a separate matter from the affairs of the "church." In fact Christianity as a philosophy and belief system has suffered greatly at the hands of the churches.
Current events have focused on the sex scandals in the Roman Catholic Church, although this is by far not a new development in the Catholic Church.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Scandal
Hence scandal is in itself an evil act, at least in appearance, and as such it exercises on the will of another an influence more or less great which induces to sin.
Moreover (2) direct scandal is obviously contrary to the virtue against which another is induced to sin; in fact every virtue forbids not only its violation by ourselves but also that we should desire its violation by another.
To prevent scandalizing another we must never transgress the negative precepts of the natural law, nor its positive precepts in cases where they truly bind; thus it is not permitted to lie to prevent a mortal sin, neither can one neglect receiving baptism to avoid the blasphemies of one's parents.

Often at the end of a musical comedy, for example Roman Scandals, a utopian community is established and the conflicts that engendered the preceding story are presumed to be transcended forever.
Black people are represented in the rest of Roman Scandals as they are in many American films after the advent of sound (for example, in the Tarzan series) - as background figures - and the fls in the rest of the film are all male.
Eddie, despite his "ancient Roman" name (Oedipus), is the protagonist of the Jonah/Job story and the spectator is the protagonist of the Oedipal story - for we would assume (perhaps too quickly) that the spectator wants to see what is to be revealed and, unlike Eddie, is not retained in the Baths under duress.

I’ll never forget the night I stayed up late and watched a movie called, “Roman Scandals.” I was the night owl of three siblings and it was probably a school night.
One of the things that makes Roman Scandals work so well is its star’s ability to portray innocence and goodness while at the same time flaunting just a hint of savvy.
Roman Scandals was certainly a vehicle for Eddie Cantor, and one in which he was definitely in the driver’s seat.

For instance, there is a BIG scandal brewing among the Jehovah's Witnesses (couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks, eh?), because their leadership and policies have systematically created an organization that makes it easy for pedophiles to operate.
Scandals are not unique to the RCC, however I think that this scandal is. For example in protestant Churches, the individual church's board of elders hire or fire the Pastor.
I suspect there is a scandal of larger proportions occurring in government schools.

[Abstract from electronic database]:The Roman Catholic priesthood is in a state of crisis unprecedented in its history, and the institution as it is known may be dying out.
The church had lost the support of the majority of Catholic women in their attitudes toward birth control and the purpose of sex in 1963--and arguably long before that--and was losing the support even of the most devout women, especially those born in the 1940s.
The charges of sexual abuse by Catholic priests is examined, and the subsequent reaction by the Church is discussed.
