 HMS London (F95) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
HMS London (F95) was a Type 22 frigate of the Royal Navy, originally named Bloodhound but renamed London at the request of the Mayor of London.
She was flagship of the Royal Navy task force during the First Gulf War.
She was decommissioned on 14 January 1999 and sold to the Romanian Navy on 14 January 2003 and renamed Regina Maria.

The exercise involved the Romanian minelayer VADM Ioan Murgescu, and provided the opportunity for five officers from USS Belknap to cross-deck to the Romanian Vessel, which, in turn, sent five of its officers to the Flagship.
One previous U.S. Navy ship has borne this name, a battleship (BB 14) commissioned in 1907, which took part in the round-the-world voyage of the "Great White Fleet," and escorted troop convoys to Europe during World War I. The ship was later decommissioned in 1920.
The Navy's winner will receive a cash award of $2,500, a plaque to commemorate their accomplishment, and will be recognized at a special awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. GEICO will also pay for lodging and round-trip transportation to Washington for the winner and the winner's spouse.

A former Royal Navy frigate has begun its new life with the Romanian Navy in a series of sea trials out of Portsmouth Naval Base.
The Romanian ship is expected to be officially named and commissioned on September 9 in a ceremony in Portsmouth.
The sea trials were designed to demonstrate that the ship and all her systems were in full working order, and they started with the ship leaving Portsmouth for the South Devon coast, where she conducted high-speed trials and reached up to 28 knots.

 Tall Ship Sagres of Portugal
She was the 3rd of four ships built by the German Navy including the Horst Vessel (now the US Coast Guard ship, Eagle).
During World War II she was taken to Bremerhaven shipyard after damage from a mine and captured by the U.S. forces in 1945.
In 1962 she was purchased by Portugal purchased to replace the old sail training ship Sagres and is often referred to as the Sagres II.

The agreement was signed by Defence Procurement Minister Lord Bach and the Romanian State Secretary for Armaments, Gheorghe Matache.
Under the first phase of the agreement both frigates will be modernised and re-equipped in Portsmouth during an upgrade programme to meet the specific requirements of the Romanian Navy.

The Romanian Navy is negotiating to buy two of the other Type-22 frigates which would be axed on the basis that they might fetch up to £20 million as opposed to only £100,000 when they were eventually scrapped, the sources said.
