In the Rome and Vienna shooting, we have only the assertion by Tunisian officials that two of the passports used by terrorists in the Vienna attack were seized from Tunisian nationals by Libya when Tripoli expelled some 30,000 Tunisian workers from Libya last August.
Although the December 1985 attack on Rome's airport was committed under Libyan sponsorship, the surviving member of the four-man terrorist team, according to reports on the Italian investigation, told investigators the team was trained in Syrian occupied areas of Lebanon.

The April 1988, hijacking of Kuwaiti Flight 422 has been cited as demonstrating terrorist sophistication.
However, during this incident, when Beirut International Airport controllers denied landing clearance and blocked the runway, one terrorist demanded the pilot land in the ocean and taxi from there onto the land.
