Ronin is a graphic novel by Frank Miller in which a ronin is re-incarnated in a dystopic near-future New York.
By this point, the ronin has formed a tentative alliance with Head, an aging hippie who realizes that the ronin is his ticket to security.
In the ensuing battle, the ronin's mechanical arms and legs are removed and ancient Japan is exposed as an illusion, the slaves of Agat actually robots sent by Taggart to retrieve the ronin and demonstrate for Sawa the effectiveness of the weapons.

Ronin was an amazing accomplishment back in 1983, when an original graphic novel by a major american publisher was unheard of.
Then there’s the counterbalance of the very male, phallic Ronin, traditional japanese figure of masculinity, fighting the primal, animal creature Agat, while the staples of the modern world: corporate ceo’s, scientists,, investors, and security agents, are caught in the middle.

Yeah, Ronin Hood is an OGN that's scheduled to come out this fall -- hopefully Beckett's move to Image Comics won't change that.
Yeah, the comic shop eats some of the cost, but if the managers know what they're doing, they more than make up for it with increased traffic and, hopefully, increased amounts of regular customers.

The partnership is official as of today, with their first Image title coming this September in the form of the original graphic novel "Ronin Hood of the 47 Samurai," which was recently previewed in a Free Comic Book Day publication.
CBR News also spoke with Image Comics Executive Director Eric Stephenson who said the agreement they have with Beckett is similar to agreements they have with other studios, such as Desperado Publishing who also publish through Image.
