By demonstrating that an unfettered mixture of science and economic rationalism, fueled by an intoxicating human desire to dominate, could ultimately end in global human annihilation is still a plausible premise.

By chance, however, Neville discovers another normal human, a fl female named Lisa (Rosalind Cash), who leads him to a small, secluded colony where the last bastion of mankind (mostly orphaned kids) fights to stay alive.
The supporting players are largely undistinguished, but Cash projects plenty of what screenwriter Joyce H. Corrington calls "fl power panache" as the tough-and-tender ghetto sister who turns Neville's life around.

After two years of relative isolation, Neville encounters a commune of survivors headed up by saucy Lisa (Rosalind Cash), the prototype for the Pam Grier blaxploitation heroines and some sort of space alien that delivers her every line with a convincing lack of life.
Earlier, the only Black member of The Family refers to Neville's stronghold as "that Honky Paradise"--later, the same character breaks the Amish dictums of the cult by packing heat.
