Rose Byrne, whose name will invariably be preceded with the word "our" in future, is the latest girl most likely, thanks to a couple of overseas roles - this month's well-received English period drama I Capture The Castle and the recently completed Obsessed, which she filmed in Montreal with Josh Hartnett.
Although Byrne is sweetness personified, she visibly relaxes when the conversation moves along from her status as Australian's "next big thing" and on to her upcoming Australian films, in which she does appear in more than 10 scenes.
Meanwhile, Byrne refuses to entertain the possibility that Australia's next big thing could soon be stopped for autographs in the street or see her photo in gossip magazines.

What am I going to say if they come out?’“ Despite her real-life, thick Australian accent, Byrne was required to assume the part of an archetypal American in Wicker Park, and said that she was determined “to nail the American accent.
We grew up on American television in Australia, so it’s not that far removed, but I made sure I trained before I left, and I spoke in the accent the whole time I was shooting.” And that meant, she laughingly adds, not teaching too much Aussie slang to her American co-star.
She moved to Los Angeles last year to try and pursue a career outside Australia, and at this stage, says that she will stay here till at least year’s end, despite admitting how competitive it is here.
