		In an early day the name Rosendale was the most appropriate that could have been given to the tract of land consituting the town of that name.
		The first post office was called Rosendale, and was near the present one of the same name; established in May, 1846, Dana Lamb, Postmaster.
		Rosendale is comparatively level and has a warm, rich, quick soil.

		Herman Giffey was born October 22, 1849 in a log cabin in Richfield Township in Washington County, Wisconsin and died in Springvale Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin on October 30, 1926.
		The residence in the background is immediately east of the UCC Church on Highway 23 in Rosendale, Wisconsin.
