DALLAS - Results of trials on adenovirus-mediated vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) 121 cDNA have shown that direct myocardial administration of the growth factor to patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) is well-tolerated.
Rosengart's research, designed as an adjunct therapy to CABG surgery, had two goals: evaluating safety of direct myocardial administration of adenovirus as a carrier of VEGF in patients with clinically significant CAD, and testing clinically relevant cardiac parameters in designing follow-up phase 2 and phase 3 trials.
Rosengart has a financial interest in BioBypass and is a paid consultant for Genvec, Inc.
