A man characterized by envy and cynicism, superficial wit and subterranean rage, ceaseless introspection and emotional detachment, insufferable smugness and barely concealed self-loathing, Jack is a bundle of apparent contradictions.
In describing Nichols' interpretation, the problem of technique immediately arises, because to give examples of specific line readings suggests that he's merely made a sequence of acting choices, when what makes his performance so engrossing is his ability to embody all these aspects of his character at once.
Ross Wetzsteon has been a theater critic at the Village Voice since 1964 and chairman of the Obie committee for 30 years.

 Skyclad Druidry
Ross Nichols, founder of The Order of Bards Ovates & Druids was a Naturist, and believed that Druidry may have originated amongst the Dravidians of India.
Both Ross Nichols and Gerald Gardner (who developed Wicca from the 1950s) had discovered the joys of Naturism, and had found that freeing oneself of clothes in a natural setting also frees one's mind and spirit.
It is possible that Nichols introduced Gardner to the term 'skyclad', though it is equally possible that Gardner came across the term in his own researches.

Spiral Nature - Reviews - Book Reviews - Ross Nichols
More modern books tend to confine their notes; it seems to me, to the back of the book, thus necessitating a constant back-and-forth to see what the notes say.
Nichols used footnotes (i.e., notes at the bottom [foot] of the page) thus doing away with this.
Personally, I much prefer the footnote style, if you don’t, well there aren’t a lot of footnotes to deal with, so it shouldn’t be too large a problem.

In fact, the book presents a modern blend of New Age approaches, pop psychology, Nicholls' own ideas, and the well-intended but inaccurate writings of 18th century antiquarians such as John Toland and William Stukeley.
For example, Nicholls and Carr-Gomm present druidry as a prehistoric system of belief that they say originated on Atlantis, was practiced by the builders of Stonehenge, and was adopted later by Celtic settlers in Britain.
Such statements contradict all the archaeological, linguistic, and historical evidence that document the druids as the clergy of the pre-Christian Celts.

BookkooB: The Book of Druidry - Ross Nichols
The Book of Druidry was one of the first mainstream books published on Druidry, and is essentially the posthumously published work of Ross Nichols, former chief of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids.
Many of Nichols' ideas are fairly eccentric, are not supported by current archaeological evidence (Druids coming from Atlantis, or space), and are worked to fit in with his personal Christian ideals.
Nichols was a friend of Gerald Gardner, founder of the Wiccan tradition, and in my mind this book basically does for Druidry what Gardner did for modern witchcraft.
