		This recording of "Semiramide" is an excellent recording, if you are looking for well-sung Rossini duets, but the arias, for the most part, drag by at unexplainably slow tempi and could use more refreshing coloratura.
		Personally, I think that the best singer on this recording is Michele Pertusi as Assur, his voice is quite big, his coloratura is excellent, his Mad Scene is a real diamond of this recording.

		The Rossini Opera Festival is an autonomous body (ente autonomo) promoting international opera festival performances, going under the same name, entirely devoted to Gioachino Rossini.
		Its aim is to revive, to perform on stage and to study the musical heritage connected with the composer, who, by leaving all his considerable fortune to the town council of Pesaro, gave birth to the Conservatory of Music and the Foundation that bear his name today.
		Control of the city subsequently passed to the Malatestas (late 13th century) and to the Sforzas (mid-15th century.) After 1631 it was under papal control except during the Napoleonic era.
