In Rossosh there is a museum dedicated to Vladimir Grigorievich Tchertkoff - friend and confidant of Leo Tolstoy for over 30 years.
In Rzhevsk Vladimir built a printing house where, together with Tolstoy, he started in 1887 to publish a journal: Posrednik in which many Tolstoy's novels and stories were published.

ROSSOSH, Russia (AP) — American Fulbright scholar John Tobin, freed Friday from a Russian prison after serving half of a one-year drug sentence, may be back in the USA by the middle of next week, a congressional source said Friday.
Tobin, carrying his belongings in a shopping bag, was escorted by two U.S. Embassy representatives as he left the prison in the southern Russian town of Rossosh.
He was freed shortly after a 15-judge panel approved a parole board's recommendation for his release.

The 24-year-old Tobin, who said he was jailed after refusing to spy for Russia, was flanked by prison officials who elbowed their way past journalists outside the white brick walls of the Soviet-era prison in the town of Rossosh.
Without stopping to talk, he got into a car with two U.S. Embassy representatives and drove to catch an overnight train to Moscow from the regional center of Voronezh, where he loaded two cartloads of books and personal belongings into his train car.

Moscow — American Fulbright scholar John Tobin won a recommendation that he be released as early as today from the Russian prison where he is serving a drug sentence, and Russian authorities appeared eager to end his high-profile imprisonment.
Tobin, 24, who grew up in New York, became eligible for parole yesterday, the halfway point of his one-year sentence, and the parole board unanimously recommended release, satisfied by his behavior at the prison in the southern town of Rossosh.
The recommendation must be confirmed by a court, which is scheduled to convene this morning at the prison.
