		Three Rotary major programs highlight the Rotary connection with up and coming community leaders: RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award), Rotaract (Rotary for college level students) and Interact for youth of high school age.
		Rotary clubs provide guidance and inspiration, but the Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting.
		Interact is an international organization of service and social clubs for young people of secondary school age that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship and promotes international understanding and peace.

	Queensland Interact
		Each Interact club must elect a new slate of officers and directors annually; the names and addresses of these individuals must be reported to the district Interact committee by the sponsoring Rotary club.
		Interact clubs are self-supporting organizations that require little or no financial support from the sponsoring Rotary club.
		Interact Clubs can either be school or community based and are required to carry out at least two service projects annually — one that serves their school or community and another that furthers international understanding.

		Interact Clubs are like Rotary Clubs consisting of young men and women volunteers of high school age who work hard to help others in their communities.
		The first Interact club was initiated in 1962 by the Rotary Club of Melbourne, Florida.
		The group is designing Interact Shirts to be sold to other High School Students, and are compiling a CD of local Teen Bands to sell.

	Rotary International Rose Parade Float
		Seen by millions of people around the world, Rotary’s entry into the Rose Parade is a wonderful venue to share with the world Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self.” Last year, more than 1300 Rotarians and their families, Rotaract Club members, and Interact Club members volunteered their time and effort to help decorate the float.
		This year’s Rotary International float is entitled “The Magic of Caring.” Designed by award winning float designer Raul Rodriguez and built by Larry Crain of Charisma Floats, with its “Teddy Bear” appeal to children and adults alike, this whimsical float acknowledges Rotary’s commitment to eradicating polio worldwide.
		Paul Harris said, “In the promotion of Rotary, it is important to reach large numbers and you cannot reach them privately.” When Rotary International’s directors approved the first entry in the parade over 25 years ago, they saw in it an unrivaled opportunity to bring Rotary’s name into public view.

	Rotary International: World Community Service:
		The Rotary Club of Niamey-Croix du Sud is working with local Interact and Rotaract clubs to collect funds for the purchase and distribution of medical aid to malnourished children and food to villages in Agadez, Dosso, Maradi, Tahoua, Tillabery, and Zinder.
		The committee is looking for Rotary volunteers to help promote vegetable gardening and the growing of off-season crops by irrigation, which will be a long-term effort aimed at improving food security, diversifying food sources, and creating income-generating opportunities for farmers.
		Rotary Zones 29 and 30 have established a Donor Advised Fund called the “Katrina Relief Fund” and are prepared to receive contributions from Rotarians.

		The Interact Club of Pakenham Secondary College was chartered on Monday 17th November 2003, by the Rotary Club of Pakenham at the Pakenham Golf Club with over 60 guests attending.
		The Interact Club with the help of the Pakenham Club sent a 20 ft container of school books to PNG through the Rotary Club of Huon Gulf in December 2004 and were most enthusiastically received.
		Rotarian Roy Knudson of the Rotary Club of Pakenham was delighted with the result and said that the ride was a superb effort and the riders were supported throughout by a great backup team and were enthusiastically welcomed in the towns they rode through along the way.
