House of Parliament on Intelligence Agencies
It is important that Parliament and the public should know the clear objectives of the intelligence and security agencies; but it is also right that we should explain to the public that the success of the agencies can be secured only by conditions of secrecy.

I think that Parliament also assumes that those Members' instincts, political background and awareness of colleagues' feelings enable them to act decisively in dealing with anything that might be wrong inside that ring, to set boundaries and parameters, and to ensure that money is not being wasted and the job is being done properly.

In Rotherham BNP candidate Marlene Guest polled 1,986 - an increase of 7%, amounting to a 7% share of the votes.
Hardly a stunning result for a national party, you might say, but by the time of the general election of 1932 they were the largest party in the Reichstag and in January 1933 their leader was made Riechschancellor.
So the UK general election of 2005 could have been a much, much better night for anti-fascists and a national vote rising to 5% for the BNP is no cause for joy.
