The Roue De Paris is a giant transportable ferris wheel, originally installed in Paris for the 2000 millennium celebrations.
The wheel is 60 metres (197 feet) high and uses 40,000 litres of water ballast.
In its new location the wheel was officially known as The Wheel Of Birmingham, but the individual cars still bore the name Roue De Paris.

From the closest station (Alésia), I took the number four line in the direction of Porte de Clignancourt (the directions of the lines are named after their final destination), and transferred to the number six line at Montparnasse-Bienvenue.
From the Arc de Triomphe, I walked down the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, which is a straight line all the way to the Place de la Concorde, which is the largest square in Paris.
In Harry Potter à l'École des Sorciers, Harry has apparently forgotten that he is a wizard until he is shipped off to Poudlard, the celebrated school of sorcery (a thinly veiled Hogwarts, except everybody speaks French).

Now, it appears, even the "right on" mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, has given in to the pressures of the Parisian upper class and declared that from January 7th 2002, the Big Wheel designed and installed by Marcel Campion, is no longer welcome at its current address.
He has proposed Champ de Mars, Jardin des Tuilleries, Invalides and Jardin de Luxembourg as possible accommodation for the attraction, but the vibes coming from the Hotel de Ville have been pretty negative, believing that there "is no viable situe" for the Wheel in Paris.
