Katherine Patricia Routledge, CBE (born February 17, 1929) is a popular English actress and comedy performer known as Patricia Routledge, who is best known for television roles such as Hyacinth Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances.
Routledge was educated at all-girls secondary school, Birkenhead High School and the University of Liverpool, going on to act at the Liverpool Playhouse.
In 2001, Routledge starred in Anybody's Nightmare a fact-basted television drama in which she played the lead role of Shelia Bowler, a piano teacher who served four years in prison for murdering her elderly aunt, but was eventually cleared.

Patricia Routledge was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, on 17 February 1929, and educated at Birkenhead High School and the University of Liverpool, where she gained an Honours degree in English Literature and Language.
A substantial hit in London, Routledge went with the play to New York in October 1966, beginning an association with Broadway that would result in some of her finest work in musical theatre.
Indeed, there was nothing of interest for her to do in Britain, where she steadily built a reputation as an outstanding actress, not least in leading roles opposite Alastair Sim, who became almost a mentor to her.

References were also left untranslated; Routledge should have paid a grad student to track down good English editions of the most relevant German, Dutch, and French titles.
Routledge definitely dropped the ball on this one, perhaps assuming it was a sufficiently important work that even a very, very poor edition would sell.
