Mars Rover Beginning To Hate Mars | The Onion - America's Finest News Source
However, scientists estimate that, in recent weeks, Spirit has been functioning on the level of a rover who has been on Mars for approximately 6,160 sols.
But as the winter lingered, Spirit began producing thousands of pages of sometimes rambling and dubious data, ranging from complaints that the Martian surface was made up almost entirely of the same basalt, to long-winded rants questioning the exorbitant cost and scientific relevance of the mission.
NASA remains optimistic that the rover will remain at least partially operational for the foreseeable future.

History of the Land Rover Marque
The Land Rover was launched in April 1948 at the Amsterdam motor show, it was originally designed as a short term project to keep the Rover car company busy until the depressed post - war car market started to pick up.
By this time, the Land Rover was beginning to take shape, with an appearance that remained almost unchanged for over 25 years.
Although many are still in daily use, the lack of refinement means that they are ideal for use as a work horse around the farm, and stables, or possibly as a second or third family vehicle.

Many rovers attempt to visit as many grid squares as possible, a practice encouraged by the ARRL rules (which award an extra multiplier for each grid square visited during the contest period).
The response was a rover scoring system, introduced in 1991, that some have called "megascoring." The contacts and multipliers from all locations were aggregated and the sums were then multiplied, producing enormous total scores.
However, it became clear over the years that rovers still have an edge in scoring opportunities, especially when two or more rovers travel together so they all can work the rare multipliers that they are handing out to others.

 Mars Exploration: Missions
Mars Pathfinder was originally designed as a technology demonstration of a way to deliver an instrumented lander and a free-ranging robotic rover to the surface of the red planet.
It was chosen because scientists believed it to be a relatively safe surface to land on and one which contained a wide variety of rocks deposited during a catastrophic flood.
Findings from the investigations carried out by scientific instruments on both the lander and the rover suggest that Mars was at one time in its past warm and wet, with water existing in its liquid state and a thicker atmosphere.
