This was pretty good as there were Venturers, Leaders from Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers, the Hillcrest Group leader and District Scout leader, parents, Rovers and Scouts so it was a fairly broad range of people that we spoke to about the boomerang.
Since semaphore scout group had arrived during Saturday, Sunday morning we were blessed with the sounds of a bazillion little kids running around and around and waking stuff and playing with the fire unattended… we left mid morning to go gliding but had to wait for the other kids to go first before us.
We had a BBQ lunch out by the pool almost like its summer, with the exception of a covered up green pool, which got an uber dose of chlorine for good luck and even the garden got weeded while we were waiting.

Dragon Skin is now held annually in a State Forest within two or three hours of Sydney and attracts about 850 Venturers and 700 Rovers/Leaders, it is now entrenched in the Venturer yearly program with Venturers stiving to win the covetted "Dragon Skin Award".
Since its humble beginnings Dragon Skin has become Scoutings largest annual Venturer event in Australia with numbers peaking at 1400 venturers during the early 1990s.
The first Dragon Skin was held at Wallaroo State Forest and was attended by 350 Venturers from across the State, the eventual winners being 2nd St Ives ably lead by Richie Sim.

We are on the road, on the Gun Barrel Highway, a barren stretch of dirt road that cuts directly through the center of Australia.
The “highway” is a wide, washboarded, long, straight road through central Australia, with hazards that include roaming camels, cattle, kangaroos, lizards, and road trains.
