Macy's - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Macy's is the name of a chain of American department stores including one in New York City that bills itself as "the world's largest".
Macy's was founded in 1851 by Rowland Hussey Macy as a dry goods store in downtown Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Macy's now occupies the entire block from 7th Avenue to Broadway and 34th to 35th Streets—except for one small brownstone on the corner of 34th and Broadway, which remains a separate property, though rented by Macy's annually for a legendary figure, and camouflaged with giant signs.
