Cromwell is a town in Central Otago in the Otago region of New Zealand.
Since the construction of the Clyde Dam and the filling of Lake Dunstan in the early 1990s the river confluence was drowned, as was the old town centre.
According to the 2001 New Zealand Census of Population and Dwellings, the permanent resident population of Cromwell was 2667, an increase of 54 since 1996.

 ROXBURGH - 1966 Encyclopaedia of New Zealand
Roxburgh is situated in Central Otago on the west bank of the Clutha River near the junction of its east-bank tributary, the Teviot River.
Roxburgh is the terminus of a branch railway line which links with the South Island Main Trunk line at Clarksville, and is 61 miles north of Milton and 97 miles north-west of Dunedin by road or rail.
The new town on the west bank is said to have been laid out in 1866 by a surveyor named Johnston who is credited with calling it Roxburgh after an ancient ruined town on the Teviot River in Scotland.

 Tournament
The first Southern Area Schools Tournament of the new millennium is being hosted by the Roxburgh Area School from the 24 – 26 May and has been named "2000ROX" by the organising students.
This year Roxburgh will host Maniototo, Catlins, Lawrence, Twizel and Kurow Area schools and is responsible for organising the events and hosting the visiting students.
The venues for the various activities are scattered around the Teviot Valley from Millers Flat where the Rugby will be played to Pinder's Pond where the Triathlon is being run to the Roxburgh town and school where many of the cultural activities have been organised.
