Roy's parents moved to (A state in southeastern United States between the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico; one of the Confederate states during the American Civil War) Florida soon after Roy was born.
Roy (whose real name is Roy Brown Ramirez) was raised during turbulent times in the (North American republic containing 50 states - 48 conterminous states in North America plus Alaska in northwest North America and the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean; achieved independence in 1776) United States.
Roy was also involved in the student disturbances which spread throughout the university, by participating in the protest and picket lines.

Brown had become ill at this point, and thus missed the massacre that ensued when the latest German Albatros D.III fighters appeared for the first time and butchered the Allied air forces.
On 6 October 1917 Brown was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) in recognition of his aerial success and in particular for coming to the aid of a lone Allied pilot under fire from four German Albatrosses.

Roy Brown (10 September 1925–25 May 1981) was a blues musician who brought a soul singing style (from gospel music) to the emerging genre of rock and roll.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Brown started as a gospel singer, but after a move to Los Angeles, California some time in the 1940s, and a brief period spent as a professional boxer in the welterweight category, he won a singing contest in 1945 covering a song by Bing Crosby.
Brown and his band were spectacular performers, with the kind of crowd-pleasing stage histrionics for which Little Richard would soon be famous.

His intent was to distract the pilot who was closing in for a kill on a pilot from Brown's squadron, Wilfred "Wop" May. (He would survive the way and become a legendary Canadian bush pilot.) If he hit him, Brown said, it was a fluke.
