The Preceptory is named in honour of Bishop Abraham, the father of the Reverend Charles Abraham who served this Parish as a replacement Clergy a few years back.

The recommendation was made by the Police Ombudsman of Northern Ireland Nuala O`Loan after she upheld a complaint that a police operation around a loyalist return parade in Lurgan on July 13 2004 contravened a commission determination.
The march assembled at the wrong point in the town and was rerouted past a point legally mandated by the Parades Commission after a parked car blocked part of the area at which the parade was to turn in the town centre.
She also upheld a complaint that around 100 Black Preceptory supporters were allowed to block the main street in Lurgan.

The Police Ombudsman's Office has upheld complaints from members of The Royal Black Preceptory and its Lurgan District No 2 that police failed to protect its members who were on a train which was attacked outside the town and then failed to help them afterwards.
The Police Ombudsman said it was her view that given the train had been attacked, she must conclude that the police had failed to protect it and therefore had failed to protect those on board.
It also shows that he spoke to Preceptory officials about what he perceived was the dangers inherent in them taking the train and asked them to consider travelling by bus.
