The RCCO was founded in 1909 as the Canadian Guild of Organists, and is Canada's oldest musician's association.
Today, the RCCO is a nationwide interdenominational community of professional and amateur organists, church musicians, choral conductors, and others sharing an interest in the organ and church music.
The RCCO assists its members in the development and practice of fine organ and choral performance and sound church musicianship, and works to promote these interests in the wider Canadian public.

The RCCO assists its members in the development and practice of fine organ and choral performance and sound musicianship, and works to promote those interests in the wider Canadian public.
Examinations of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) are held annually for the diplomas of Colleague, Associate, Fellow and Choir Directing, as well as the certificate in Service playing, “all of which test and provide recognition for achievements in organ performance and musical knowledge” (quoted from the RCCO yearbook).
RCCO examinations will improve skills of organists and thus improve the quality of accompaniment of congregational singing, and the music in the worship service in general.

 RCCO Ottawa Centre
The Ottawa Centre of the RCCO is the second largest centre in the College and the largest in Region 2.
She has promoted the cause of Canadian church music by taking this choir on tour to the Arctic, to Newfoundland, and the Atlantic Provinces, and to many outlying communities in the Ottawa area.
Over the years, she has acted as a mentor to organists across the country and to her own students and choirboys, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in Music.

The Royal Canadian College of Organists/Collège royal canadien des organistes, Canada's national association of professional and amateur musicians interested in the organ and church music, has members in every province organised into 31 regional and urban 'Centres,' including Calgary.
To these ends, RCCO Calgary Centre presents an annual Pipe Organ Day in February and co-sponsors Pipe Organ Encounter educational workshops for teens and young adults with Mount Royal Conservatory's Organ Academy and the Calgary Society of Organists.
The RCCO is a 'college' in that it offers national examinations, educational resources and publications in support of members' development in organ performance, choral conducting and administration, and overall musicianship.

 RCCO Scholarships
A letter of application must be accompanied by proof of acceptance at a Canadian University, two letters of reference from people able to assess the candidate's suitability for the scholarship and a list of the applicant's academic and musical achievements and awards.
This scholarship is awarded by the College in even numbered years in memory of the late John Goss, FRCCO, former conductor of the National Ballet of Canada and relative of his namesake, the British composer Sir John Goss.
The purpose of the bursary is to expand the musical horizons of organists from isolated communities, by offsetting their transportation costs to the annual RCCO National Convention, where no other option to do so would otherwise be available.

In 1981, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Canon Law from The University of King’s College in Halifax, and was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Canadian College of Organists in 1997.
He continues to teach UPEI’s organ majors, and is organist and choirmaster of St. Peter’s Cathedral, a post he has held since 1971.
He was installed as national president of the Royal Canadian College of Organists in 2004.

The Royal Canadian College of Organists Vancouver Island Centre was formally established on May 29, 1970.
Its objectives include the promotion of a high standard of organ playing, choral directing, church music, and composition; and to assist in holding examinations and issuing diplomas to members, on behalf of the national council.

Both works, however, would have presented me with a task much more difficult to accomplish, had it not been for the opportunity in my youth to play as an auxiliary organist at one of the churches in Poland which housed two organs: a Baroque organ and a full modern one.
However, they are no longer associated with these particular tunes and organists should feel free to use these pieces for general occasions.

 Michael Capon - Christ Church Cathedral, Fredericton
Organist and Choirmaster at Christ Church Cathedral, Fredericton, since 1997, Michael Capon lives with his wife, Ellen, and stepson, Angus, and is actively involved in the musical life of New Brunswick's capital city as a performer, conductor, composer, and teacher.
His setting of "In Flanders Fields" for choir and organ was performed by the Canadian Chamber Choir under the direction of Iwan Edwards during their tour of Eastern Canada in 2003.
In the summer of 1999, he represented New Brunswick in a Cross Canada Organ Recital at the national convention of the Royal Canadian College of Organists in Hamilton, Ontario.
