  Royal Canadian Legion
The Royal Canadian Legion originated in several small associations of ex-soldiers that banded together throughout Canada during WWI.
The Legion continues to serve veterans by bringing their concerns to the attention of the government.
Each province is organized as a command, and in 1987 the Legion, with headquarters in Ottawa, had several hundred branches in Canada with over 460 000 members.

The Royal Canadian Legion is a non-profit Canadian ex-service organisation (veterans organization) founded in 1925 with more than 400,000 members worldwide.
In 2005, the Alberta branch of the Royal Canadian Legion accidentally used the Horst-Wessel-Lied as the theme music in an advertising campaign for their fundraising lottery.
In 1962 the Legion began a summer sports camp at the International Peace Garden which is run to this day, and has helped to train over 30,000 school age athletes.

The Legion is a non-profit, dues-supported, fraternal organization with approximately 1,600 branches in Canada, 21 in the United States and 4 in Germany.
