Royal Canadian Sea Cadets in the Sail Training Vessel (STV) MAPLE LEAF will lead more than 20 tall ships up the south Arm of the Fraser River to Richmond on Thursday between 2 and 4 p.m.
Each year, MAPLE LEAF provides a sail training experience for about 150 sea cadets under a lease agreement with the Department of National Defence that sponsors sea cadets through the Canadian Forces in partnership with the Navy League of Canada.
The ship takes sea cadets to sea during the spring school break, during summer training, and it is a reward experience for the top sea cadets from across the country to have a three-week training period along the B.C. coast each September.

With the help of community partners, two City of Pickering Councillors, a group of Pickering Army, Sea and Air cadets and their leaders and two local veterans shared in a historical moment when the Juno Beach Memorial Centre was officially opened on June 6, 2003 in Courseulles sur Mer, France.
