The Royal Guards (Högvakten) is a tri-service unit of the Swedish Armed Forces which has responsibility for the protection of the Swedish Royal Family.
The Royal Guard unit is usually divided into two parts, with the main force being stationed at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, with a smaller detachment at the Drottningholm Palace.
Initially, the unit was formed from the various guards regiments of the Swedish Army.

This time the Royal Court had decided that the ceremony would take place on the Inner Courtyard, something that was very appreciated by thos of us who are used to having to cram together as sardines in a a jar and where only those on the front rows can get a view of the event.

The Life Guards (Swedish: Livgardet) is a combined cavalry/infantry regiment of the Swedish Army, with responsibility for training.
The Life Guards as it exists today has been part of the Swedish Army since 2000, when the functions of three separate units, the Svea Life Guards, the Household Brigade and the Household Dragoons, all of which were classed as Household troops, were amalgamated into a single regiment.
The motto of the Life Guards is possunt nec posse videntur meaning "they can [do], what it seems they cannot" or more directly "they can do what seems to be impossible".
