Swedish Royal Library - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Royal Library, or Kungliga Biblioteket (KB), is the national library of Sweden.
The present location of the Royal Library is, since 2 January 1878, in Humlegården park in Stockholm.
These plans were consolidated in an agreement made in 1964 between the Lenin Library in Moscow and the Royal Library in which the respective libraries agreed to exchange their countries' literature.

 Wikipedia: Library of Alexandria
The Library's contents were likely distributed over several buildings, with the main library either located directly attached to or close to the oldest building, the Museum, and a daughter library in the younger Serapeum, also a temple dedicated to the God Serapis.
Not surprisingly, the Great Library became a symbol for knowledge itself, and its destruction was attributed to those who were portrayed as ignorant barbarians, often for purely political reasons.
The destruction of the library is attributed by some historians to a period of civil war in the late 3rd century CE -- but we know that the Museum, which was adjacent to the library, survived until the 4th century.

The History of the Royal Library
However, in spite of its name, the Royal Library was not the King's private library, although the royal families of the 17th century did not always make clear distinctions between their own property and that of the state.
The library's sole income, 600 Daler in silver coins, a sum which had been set in 1703, was not sufficient to cover more than the purchase of one or two foreign journals and the binding of the Swedish printed materials, after deductions for the cost of stationery, candles and such.
A committee was appointed, and in October 1952 a memorandum was submitted to the Royal Chancery “with a proposal that meant that the task of editing the national bibliography in its all phases would be transferred to the Royal Library...

 The Great Library of Alexandria
The library in Pergamon at the Temple of Athena is often said to have contained 200,000 scrolls on very flimsy evidence[26] but a perusal of its extant ruins suggest a figure closer to 30,000 would be more sensible for this major rival of the Alexandrian Library[27].
It would be reasonable to conclude that a major library was founded at the Serapeum during its rebuilding in the second century AD and that this library became confused in the minds of various writers with the Royal Library of the Ptolemies that had disappeared over two centuries before.
The Royal Library was an important institution in the history of literature but its destruction in the first century BC did not spell the end of ancient scholarship and Alexandria remained the Mediterranean’s intellectual capital for seven centuries afterwards.

If indeed a Christian mob was responsible for the destruction of the Library, it is to be expected that such an act embarrassed later generations, who may have decided to alter or not to preserve the historical records in order to conceal it.
In any case, both the contradictions in the historical record and the lack of a definitive account of the destruction of the Library in pre-Christian times are striking, given that it was the goal of Christian writers such as Orosius to highlight such evidence wherever they could find it.

The Royal Library at Cambridge was in origin the private collection of John Moore (1646-1714), Bishop of Ely and one of the greatest book-collectors of his day.
His death coincided with the accession of George I, who was persuaded in 1715 to buy Moore’s library and present it to Cambridge University to acknowledge their loyalty to the Hanoverian king; it has ever since been called the Royal Library, in honour of the donor.
Moore’s library, which included books on almost all subjects, with many manuscripts and printed books of the highest importance, was estimated as containing 28,965 volumes of printed books and 1,790 of manuscripts; the receipt of it in 1715 all but trebled the size of the University Library.
