Royal Ontario Museum McLaughlin Planetarium, 1984 - 1987
The first commercial Stellarium was installed in the Astrocentre of the Royal Ontario Museums McLaughlin planetarium in Toronto.
Unfortunately the planetarium itself was closed only a few years later when the museum had to cut costs.

 Flora of Muskoka, ROM Botany
The ROM Herbaria comprises three principal collections: the Vascular Plant Herbarium, a collection of Quaternary sediment cores, macro- and microfossils, and modern reference material (pollen, seeds, etc.), and the Cryptogamic Herbarium (TRTC).
ROM Herbaria based curators carry out research, and teach in the Botany Department of the University of Toronto at both the undergraduate and graduate level, in addition to their collection and other responsibilities.
ROM botanical collections and research activities are featured in a number of ROM galleries, notably the second floor Botany Gallery ("Ontario's changing plantscape/L'évolution de la flore ontarienne;" Dickinson 1991).

The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is an agency of the Ministry of Culture.
The ROM works with more than 5,000 schools to provide both formal and informal learning opportunities for students, including over 420,000 participants in ROM Outreach programs in communities across Ontario, as well as 154,000 student visitors each year, representing 7% of all Ontario students.
The museum is supported by a Province of Ontario operating grant and self-generated revenues, including the memberships and donations of more than 37,000 individuals.

The Royal Ontario Museum, often called the ROM, is a world-renowned institution and the fifth largest museum in North America.
The new building was designed by Alfred H. Chapman and James Oxley, The new main facade of the museum broke from the Italianate style of the original structure, to a neo-Byzantine style, with stone, triple windows contained within recessed arches, and different-coloured stone arranged in a variety of patterns.
The museum is currently undergoing a major renovation and redesign, dubbed the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, by renowned architect and Bregman and Hamann Architects, and slated for completion in 2007, and was budgeted to cost $200 million.

The original, west wing of the museum, a three-storey Byzantine building of brick and terracotta, opened in 1914 with its entrance on Bloor Street.

Libeskind, architect of Berlin's Jewish Museum, said his design was inspired by the crystalline forms in the museum's minerals galleries.
"It's really going to be one of the most elegant museum buildings that have been built since the beginning of this century," said William Thorsell, president and CEO of ROM.

He was part of a team from the Provincial Museum that travelled to historic village sites on Haida Gwaii (including Tanu, Skedans and Ninstints) to salvage poles.
The poles were later moved to museums in Vancouver and Victoria.
The screen was specially commissioned by the museum in 1968 and is now displayed at the exit to the First Peoples Gallery on the third floor.
