The Royal Victoria Station is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in east London.
The station opened on the 28th March 1994 and is named after the nearby Royal Victoria Dock.
The station is located on the DLR's Beckton branch, between Canning Town and Custom House stations and is in Travelcard Zone 3.

The Royal Victoria Dock was acquired from the Port of London Authority in 1983, followed by Royal Albert and King George V Docks in 1986.
During the excavation of the Royal Victoria Dock hazel, oak and yew trees were found in a bog as well as British and Roman coins, a 27 foot canoe, a millstone, a Roman urn, a circular tin shield and many animal bones including those of a whale.
K-R warehouses, Royal Victoria Dock North: the LDDC spent £3.547 million on the refurbishment of these buildings which were built in 1855.

The opening of the Royal Victoria Dock meant it was necessary to install a swing bridge over the western exit of the dock; rather than live with the inconvenience, the railway was diverted around the north side of the dock, with the original route being retained under the name "Silvertown Tramway".
The DLR have been kind enough to supply me with their official inter-station distances for the original sections, which really are given to a precision of 10mm.
Between Beckton Junction and Royal Albert, the present DLR alignment is south of that used by the PLA branch.

Victoria Dock was opened in 1855 by Prince Albert, but did not become 'royal' until 1880 on the opening of the Royal Albert Dock.
Although heavily bombed in WW2, Royal Victoria Dock flourished and in the 1960's was the most modern dock in London.
