I have absolutely no knowledge of whether Royall Tyler's translation is a good one in academic terms, but it reads very easily and has a lot of atmosphere.
Royall Tyler's superior translation is detailed, poetic, and superbly true to the Japanese original while allowing the modern reader to appreciate it as a contemporary treasure.
