Lust For Life - Music from the Movies
Rozsa's score for Vincente Minnelli's biopic of Vincent Van Gogh is one of the composer's best works, and a highpoint of 1950s film music.
The thoughtfulness which is a characteristic of Rozsa is evident in his decision to adopt a 'period' sound for the picture which fits it perfectly.
Rozsa is equally good in depicting the tortured soul of Van Gogh, which takes centre stage as the film progresses.

Rozsa's compositions include orchestral and chamber music, as well as the 90 film scores that garnered him international stature.
Rozsa's film scores include: "The Thief of Bagdad" (1940), "Double Indemnity" (1944), "El Cid" (1960), "Providence" (the 1978 French César Award), and the Oscar-winning scores for "Spellbound" (1945), "A Double Life" (1946) and "Ben-Hur" (1959).

Moonfleet - Music from the Movies
That the pairing of the German expressionist director Fritz Lang and master musician Miklos Rozsa did not result in a masterpiece is not the fault of either man but of the studio system of the time.
Being the professional he was, Rozsa still managed to turn in a well-crafted and enjoyable score, albeit one that lacks the sparkle of Diane or the intensity and inventiveness of Lust for Life.
The orchestration of this score and, indeed, the other Rozsa scores of his best period, is by the composer’s fellow Hungarian, Eugene Zandor.

The orchestral passages conducted by Rozsa are fine, beautifully played and very well recorded; Sabu's readings are a little stiff and forced at times (he was not a trained actor), but honest.
Those sides suffered from an incredible array of mastering and pressing problems, which makes their appearance on CD in any listenable form a minor engineering miracle -- these were among Rozsa's early efforts at re-recording one of his scores for commercial release, and they're of intrinsic historical interest on that basis.
Rozsa was equally adept at action and romance, at Eastern exoticism and European traditionalism.

In her early papers and in her dissertation, Peter helped to found the modern field of recursive function theory as a separate area of mathematical research.
The latter was the second Hungarian mathematical book to be published in the Soviet Union because its subject matter was considered indispensable to the theory of computers.

Rozsa, in [3], describes the improving mathematical education at the Technical University of Budapest:-.
He had heart problems, however, and although he was able to contribute strongly to the Mathematical Society (Mathematikai Tarsasag), an informal private society for the mathematicians in Budapest founded in 1885, he did not live to see the formal founding of the Janos Bolyai Mathematical Society in 1891.
Rozsa Peter studied at Lorand Eotvos University in Budapest where her interest in mathematics was brought about by Fejer's lectures.

Peter (whose book on recursive functions is considered a classic among computer scientists) introduces the reader to the beauty that is mathematics by breaking down concepts that might appear intimidating to the neophyte.
The author, Rozsa Peter, is a lady mathematician (or is one not supposed to notice?) who shares with George Gamow and Richard Feynman a flair of making the complicated seem simple.
The preface states that the book is written for "intellectually minded people who are not mathematicians." The book explores various ways in which the concept of infinity enters into mathematics - and the dangers it poses.

Miklós RÓZSA The Two String Quartets : Film Music CD Reviews- August 2001 MusicWeb(UK)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
Uniquely, his contract with MGM allowed for him to have three months break each summer to write his own music, something he did in his Italian retreat far from Hollywood.
Written in 1950, the String Quartet No.1, opus 22 is dedicated to Peter Ustinov, with whom Rózsa became friends while working on Quo Vadis (1950); the first of the historical epics with which, culminating in Ben-Hur, King of Kings and El Cid the composer would find his greatest fame.
However, aficionados of Rózsa's grand film style seeking something similar here will be disappointed.
